During the production of  web material for steel belted tires in the calandar, it can happen that single wires are not  distributed evenly over the width of the web. Wire displacement to the bottom or top as well as overlays or missing wires because of breakages occur regularly. The Steel Cord Inspection System SIS XP monitors these defects at the cutting and splicing stations and prevents the processing of defective material to finished tires.
