In this section Roland strives to demonstrate the creative and innovative use of its products in various industries. However, the natural tendency of customers to avoid disclosing proprietary solutions to outsiders, sets natural limits to the type of material that can be displayed here. This means there always will be gaps in displaying innovative solutions in the field, which we are, however, strive to close as is reasonably possible.

Double Sheet Detection Double sheet detection systems from Roland cover the wide spectrum of sheet metal processing for such products as food and beverage cans to be flexibility demands in the automotive and automotive supplier industries to specialized equipment for the manufacturing of domestic appliances or storing and sharing systems.
Weld Seam Detection Weld seam detection in tubes and coils is a procedure of necessity in the automotive industry - need to have! The constantly rising demands regarding safety and the drive towards weight reduction as well the necessity of reducing production costs have accelerated the use of welded tubes.
Nondestructive Material Testing During the production of the web material in the calendar for steel belted tires, it can happen, that individual steel cord wires are not evenly spaced across the width of the calendared web. Wire displacements to the top or bottom of the web are possible as well as cross wires or missing wires in case of wire breakage. The Steel Cord Inspection System SIS XP monitors these webs in the cutting and splicing operation and prevents thereby the processing of defective web material.
Sheet Thickness Measurement The continuous sheet thickness measurement systems of Roland are based on the following sensor principles: permanent magnetism, inductive transmission system and capacitance measurement. Therefore, they are best suited for sheet and strip processing lines, such as cut-to-length lines, shears, stamping equipment and presses that work from coil, where the customers want to ensure feeding the right coil thickness.
Special Solutions With the technologies and sensor principles that Roland uses: Induction, capacitance, magnetic leaking flux, ultrasonics and eddy current it is often possible to solve customer problems which are not in the mainstream of the classical Roland product spectrum.
